The last couple of VBs have brought out the worst amongst us, so much for together we stand, after reading the posts, it was more like 'you stand while i climb over you' :)
I started a thread couple of weeks back. It met an untimely death because of lack of participation from people. Just to revive your memory :

Today we are here almost on the verge of disintegration as an organization. And this is because we always believed in our minds that we are nothing but a bunch of opportunists coming together for our individual cause of getting a GC. What we see today is an outcome of what we always believed. Soon EB2 will disappear, and EB3 will be left alone fighting for their GC's. And at some point of time they will also go away, all that's left will be "guests" using IV as a discussion forum. May be what I suggested can be termed as "Quixotic" but unless we aim high, we will never reach high.
Guys, I am an EB2 with PD in 2004, but I will always stand together with you, no matter what. A GC for myself alone will never satisfy me, because number of my friends, my family members are in EB3, and I am not mean enough to celebrate for myself when majority of my friends and family members are sad.

I think real estate will be attractive in 2-3 years time if atleast 2 of the following happen
Prices remain stagnant since all builders are factoring in the growth. A stagnant price means real loss of 12% every year ( inflation rate)
Interest rates have to come down to 6 - 7% level in India to make it affordable
Rupee has to depreciate further to make it attractive to transfer and invest
In current situation its foolhardy if someone is investing their 2nd /3rd home/plot in India. People seem to have lost bearing on decent diversification, asset allocation.

I think you bring up very valid points. For a lot of ppl who have stayed away from family/extended family for so long, they may not like the constant interference.
"I miss my parents" is not quantifiable but what about the paying back the debt by supporting your aging parents? Let me make the question a little broader, isn't every immigrant divided between doing what's best for the children and supporting the parents?
I dont think one is necessarily doing kids a dis-service by electing to go back. On the contrary, kids experience tremendous personal growth through interaction with extended family which is not possible in a foreign land.

You started this thread saying that USCIS has a "deadline" for completing stuffs last Monday or last last Friday.... All of us trusted you that time - Could you please give us a responsible answer or status Update.

I guess forum is all about sharing information that we gather from different sources. No body can assert anything not even USCIS. They open up the gate for all July filer, then closed it and then re-open it again when many protested. So, when someone shared the news that USCIS is not going to accept the july filings, everyone mocked him but that came out to be true.
Forum is all about sharing information. It depends on our judgement as how much we want to believe on that. Srikondji shared some information which he learned from the CRs, now it's up to you if you want to blindly follow that or use that information as a way to curb your anxiety.
People started cursing logiclife when he posted about the FAQ4 to be released by friday and it didn't. But it did came after 2-3 days. So someone who shared that info with Core might have just said we are trying our best to come up with FAQ4 and will release it by Friday and core shared that info with everyone. But that doesn't mean that people should take that info as if it doesn't come on Friday, it will be the end of the world and core should loose his credibility. FAQ4 did came after couple of days and all those people who were cursing logiclife were no where to be seen.
If you put up a clause that no-one should share the info, unless you have a word from God, I guess we'll not have more than 2 or 3 threads here.
So guys..bottom line is stop fighting over what someone said or not, concentrate on what you are doing about it.
As someone rightly said, "Listen to all but do what you think is right". There is similar adage in hindi but I'm not using hindi so that everyone can understand it.

I think more than 90% of companies in service industries have more than 50% emps in H1/L1. The fees may be indirectly passed to the employees in terms of cut in salary or cut in profit sharing.

Dear IV,
Its not about me. I am planning to do a flower or some campaign that all will agree upon in less than a week. We must do before the next bulletin comes out.
Is it possible for IV to send a very good number of flowers to the departments.
i believe IV leadership has mentioned many times that 'more visa numbers' is the only solution to this mess. Which can be only done by changes in law.When IV planned some thing for it (recapture bill phone call campaign) the participation was not great.
I wonder, every one running like headless chicken solves any thing.

Most media articles on the 485 issue had one common note "This normally not so vocal group of legal working immigrants have stood up and spoke". IV made sure that will not be so anymore and we have a strong resonating voice that will make a difference

This is so out of whack. Employment based green card issue is not about India or Indians. Our issue is about America and us i.e. highly skilled people from all countries waiting for their green cards. STOP BRANDING EMPLOYMENT BASED GREEN CARD AS "INDIA ISSUE". Such an attitude doesn't help at all and it is a big turn-off for people from other countries. Let’s be mature about solutions to the issue.
Also, people who give money to campaigns - Hillary, Obama or any other candidates, they are not giving the money to change any policy for getting green cards sooner for employment based categories. Our issue is not even on the radar screen of most "ethnic communities". And problem gets worst when news media, people like Lou Dobbs try to misguide the general public with their hate mongering propaganda - again with the objective to increase the value of his own stock. Often times Lou Dobbs will try to make it all look like "conspiracy theory" being hatched against American middle class - just to get their attention. For example Lou says that people from Indian American community are contributing to Hillary to promote outsourcing????? Hello!!!! Who is in the world is idiot enough NOT to believe that increased outsourcing affects everybody in US, including Indian-Americans. Sometimes news media will call Hillary as senator from the state of Punjab and other similar bull shit but catchy news items. And it is ok if majority of the middle-class Americans shake their heads in disbelief (because they are ignorant about the facts), as if a massive conspiracy theory is being hatched against the middle class. But people who have any common sense have the responsibility to think rationally and filter "real news" from news intended to increase ratings of a news shows/channels.
Also, the idiots who give campaign funds do so to buy proximity to power to increase their own profile. People who give money to campaigns are SICK and corrupt. These people are simply taking pictures with the candidate or a politician (not a lawmaker - there is a difference) to increase the value of their own stock. Too often this forum has mentioned the name of Chatwal being close to Clintons. Guys, lets face it, Chatwal is doing excellent marketing for himself. I don't think he is as close as he projects and as most people think he is. The way system works, anybody who is ready to give $1000 for a campaign can get their pictures with the "POLITICIAN", especially during campaign season. And these photo-ops freaks do not care about anybody other than them self. Therefore, the so called "indian lobby" exist only in the imagination of people who read news articles that are written by paid journalists.
About Cornyn amendment, this was clearly a party line vote. It had nothing to do with the position of a Senator on the issue. Did you notice that Sen. Grassley voted in favor of the SKIL bill? Anybody knows why???? As most people here may already know, Sen. worked overtime to derail the CIR. Because of that, leaders of the Democratic party in the Senate are upset with him on immigration issue. And thus, most democrats voted to oppose Cornyn’s proposal. That is how things work in the Senate – which is no different than the way things work at the any other workplace. Vote on Cornyn amendment had nothing to do with the stand of a Senator on an issue.
So, it is ok if Conryn amendment did not go through – “this time”. There will be more opportunities in the future. The thing is, Democratic Senators like Cantwell need to lead in pushing EB provisions. That may help to easy out the partisan vote on such proposals in the future.

This is by far the most effective story that highlights the security concerns raised by approving cases that hasn't cleared the background check yet. This could be the big story. It may, however, be the double-edged sword. I think we need to keep this going as much as we can.
